GUIDANCE COUNSELLOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with school staff and parents to understand students’ needs and how to deal with them.

  • Implement programs to help students with educational, vocational, personal and social problems.

  • Participate in Parent/Teacher conferences

  • Conduct classroom guidance sessions

  • Conduct individual and group counselling

  • Make external referrals for students

  • Assist in identifying students with learning disabilities

  • Collect and maintain current materials on educational, occupational and personal/social topics for students references.

  • Help students adjust to changes and pressures of adolescence

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR STUDENTS:

  • Come to school on time.

  • Come dressed in proper uniform.

  • Make sure you have all of your school supplies.

  • Get a copy of your class schedule and bring it to school everyday.​​

  • Learn ALL of your teachers' names.

  • Learn your LMS username and password.

  • Provide your counsellor with your email address.

    • create one if you don't have one.​

  • CELL PHONES ARE NOT ALLOWED.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR PARENTS:

Backpack

  • Know your child's grade and homeroom (e.g., 7L-2)

  • Learn the name of your child's homeroom teacher

  • Ensure that the school has a working telephone contact for you.

    • If your number changes, please notify the school immediately!

  • Be sure to ask about your child's progress during the school term by:

    • speaking to their teachers

    • checking their progress on the LMS

  • Check your child's books for notes and homework assignments

  • Follow the school's social media pages for updates:
